Galilean moon impact     This image of Callisto uses the same scale as the impact basin images of the Moon and Mars, assuming a mean radius of 2409.3 km for Callisto. It is centered on the Valhalla impact, using the colored texture map of Björn Jónsson. You can easily see fractures in the icy crust more than 1000 km from the center of impact. A recent interpretation is that the impacts responsible for Valhalla and the few other multi-ringed structures on Callisto may have penetrated all the way to a liquid ocean within the moon.
